Diving Deep Into Digital Art

In my time at Bay View, I was never too sure of what I would want to do once I graduated. I had never had a pull towards a certain career path, until I signed up for Digital Art 1 with Mrs. Harris. During quarantine, I dabbled in graphic design and deciding to take Digital Art 1 expanded my passion for it. It was probably one of the most enjoyable and beneficial classes I have taken. It helped me to dig deeper into the field that I now want to pursue in the future, which is graphic design. I love graphic design because of how diverse it is. Digital art can be used not only in artistic expression, but in communications, marketing, and other pathways of life.

In the Digital Art course, each of the various assignments Mrs. Harris assigns incorporates different techniques. With this course, I learned how to use various platforms like Pages and Keynote, while using different templates and projects. Some of my favorite projects include creating my own book cover, special occasion cards, animals (of my choice) made out of nifty materials like buttons, and a slideshow movie on my life. For the animal project, I chose to create a penguin made out of plastic plates(shown below). I chose the plastic plates because of the harm that plastic can cause on the penguins in their natural habitat. It took a lot of work, but it was really worth it as you can see from the finished product.

If I had to pick a favorite part of the class, I couldn’t. I enjoyed all of the projects and the class itself a lot. I would recommend this class to anyone who is interested in the fun graphic design or just for the tech credit! Not only has it inspired me in what I want to do in the future, but it has helped me to learn different aspects of technological platforms that I would have never thought of exploring.
