We are so pleased to announce that three-time Daytime Emmy Award Winner Gina Tognoni ’92 is serving as master of ceremonies for this year’s Spirit of Mercy Scholarship Dinner. Ms. Tognoni’s path to stardom began during her time at Bay View, while competing in the Miss Teen USA pageant. She has since gone on to have an acclaimed career in television and film.
Most recently, Ms. Tognoni has been seen on CBS’s “The Young and the Restless.” In 2017, she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She is perhaps best known for her roles as Kelly Cramer on “One Life To Live” and Dinah Marler on “Guiding Light,” for which she won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in both 2006 and 2008. Her other television credits include “The Sopranos,” “Law & Order SVU,” “Fastlane,” “Phenomenon” and “This Time Around.” She also appeared in the feature film “Pride” and the Independent Spirit Award–nominated film, “In the Family.”
“I am eternally grateful for my Bay View education. It instilled in me Mercy values, particularly the importance of service, which I carry on in my philanthropic work,” said Ms. Tognoni. “Studying in an all-girl environment made a tremendous impact and empowered me with the knowledge that I could do anything. It is a joy to come back to the Bay and help the school that has given—and continues to give—me so much.”
“St. Mary Academy – Bay View is blessed with a large and active community of alumnae who contribute to the success of the Academy in so many ways,” said Erin Hanna, Director of Institutional Advancement. “We are grateful to Ms. Tognoni for hosting the Spirit of Mercy Scholarship Dinner, an event which will undoubtedly make an important difference in the lives of many young women who dream of a Bay View education.”
The Spirit of Mercy Scholarship Dinner was established to raise additional funding for tuition assistance. Bay View is committed to ensuring qualified applicants are afforded the opportunity to attend. All funds raised directly assist young women and girls in need of financial aid.
