   In honor of Women’s History Month, the Girl Power Roundup will celebrate the many important contributions that female authors have made in the writing industry. 

    Enheduanna was born in 2286 BCE and is recorded in history as the first known author. She is best known for her poem “The Exaltation of Inanna”, which told the story of how she was removed from her position as High Priestess and then exiled from her community. Since Enheduanna’s work, there have been many female authors who were the some of the most celebrated in their genre, including Toni Morrison, Agatha Christie, and Harper Lee. Toni Morrison was the first African American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993. Agatha Christie was a bestselling author for her mystery novels such as Murder on the Orient Express and And Then There Were None. Harper Lee is best known for To Kill a Mockingbird, which received the Pulitzer Prize in 1961.
