Playing Our Part
BENGAL BACKERS are a team of parents, grandparents, alumnae, staff and fans who collectively support Bay View sports. Our mission is to subsidize the athletic budget, by providing equipment, uniforms and resources to assist our student athletes so they perform at the highest competitive level in their respective sport. Like any team, we are stronger together. When needs arise, Bengal Backers can meet those needs better than any one team could do alone.
In previous school years, we have providing the following:
- New equipment team bags to Field Hockey, LAX, Soccer, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, Cross Country, Track and Field, and Swimming.
- A new sound system for all outdoor sports to utilize.
- A new starting system and meet manager tracking system for the Swim team.
- A new scorers’ table for all sports, a warm up pitching mound and 3 sets of plyometric box sets.
- 3 video cameras so that our coaches are able to film competitions and use valuable game footage as a teaching tool.
- An equipment trailer for our Crew program to use during regattas.

More Than a Game
The benefits of playing a sport at St. Mary Academy – Bay View extend far beyond the field. This is where young women learn the true meaning of courage, confidence and endurance. It is where they experience the importance of practice, patience and persistence, and where they learn to be leaders as they challenge themselves and others to work harder, dig deeper, and achieve more than ever before. Most importantly, sports give young women the opportunity to be part of a team. There is nothing as powerful as many unique individuals working together toward one common goal.

Every sport receives our support — so we need yours! Bengal Backers raises money primarily through membership dues and donations. Every contribution, no matter how large or small, makes a big difference for our student athletes. Whether their goals are fun and fitness throughout Bay View or they aspire to play at the next level, by supporting the Bengal Backers you are ensuring a dynamic and competitive athletic program for our athletes now and for years to come.
