Letter From The Principal

Dear Prospective Families,

Welcome to St Mary Academy-Bay View, home of the Bengals! For 147 years, Bay View Academy has been educating girls and young women to become confident, compassionate, independent and socially conscious young women of faith. Our mission and values are based on the teachings of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Order of the Sisters of Mercy.

At Bay View, we embrace the core values and the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy: Spirituality, Community, Service, Social Justice and Critical Concerns. We are a community of learners who seek to move both ourselves and our society forward by investigating critical issues in our current world and contributing to solutions that will make life better of every living being on the planet.

Our students feel that they are valued, and our teachers strive to support each girl in finding her passion and reaching her full potential. Our students are inquisitive, curious and faith-filled stewards of Mercy. At Bay View, you will encounter scientists, artists, writers, mathematicians, musicians and athletes. They are ready to take on the challenges of the global world and are equipped to find their voices and learn how to use them, respectfully, from a young age.

We are three divisions but we are one Academy. Once you become a member of our community, you will feel the warmth of this Mercy Family. We stand together, yet we each offer our individual and special voice, ready to make a difference in the 21st Century world.

”There is nothing more conducive to the good of society than the education of young women.”
Catherine McAuley

I welcome you to visit our school and see the Mercy spirit in action – you are always welcome!

Warm regards to each and every one of you,

Dr. Marcela Rossi,
Academy Principal

…No work of charity can be more productive of good to society, or more conducive to the happiness of the poor, than the careful instruction of women since whatever be the station they are destined to fill, their example and their advice will always possess influence.
