Welcome From Our President

With great pleasure and a profound sense of honor, I extend a warm welcome to all. As the newly appointed president of St. Mary Academy - Bay View, I embrace this opportunity to lead our cherished Academy into a future filled with promise and growth.

For nearly a century and a half, St. Mary Academy - Bay View has nurtured and empowered young women, instilling in them a passion for knowledge and a commitment to service. Inspired by the legacy of Catherine McAuley, the visionary foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, our Academy stands as a beacon of academic excellence. Our core values of compassion and service permeate every aspect of our educational environment, fostering an atmosphere where leadership, inquiry, and innovation thrive. Rooted in the Mercy Critical Concerns, we strive to provide a holistic education that nurtures intellectual growth and cultivates social responsibility and global awareness.

As an alumna of Bay View, it is a sincere privilege for me to serve as your president. Each day, I witness the remarkable dedication of our faculty as they engage our students in dynamic learning experiences, equipping them with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the 21st century. Moreover, I am inspired by the diverse range of enriching activities our students engage in within and beyond the classroom. We recognize our profound impact on our students' lives as they embark on their personal journeys of self-discovery and transformation, authoring the narratives that will shape their future and influence the world.

I understand firsthand that the value of a Bay View education is truly immeasurable, and I invite you to delve deeper into our website and schedule a visit to our campus to witness the transformative power of our educational approach. We are delighted that you have shown interest in our school, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome you to Bay View, where you will experience the distinctiveness of the Mercy difference.

As we approach our sesquicentennial, the monumental milestone of our 150th anniversary in the 2024-25 academic year, I call upon all community members to join me in honoring our rich legacy while propelling us toward an even brighter future. Together, we will continue to shape the lives of remarkable young women and empower them to become compassionate leaders, global citizens, and catalysts for social justice.

In the spirit of Mercy,
Amy Gravell '93
