Congratulations to St. Mary Academy - Bay View freshman Maya Joncas who was named one of the RI's top winners in the Write Rhode Island short story competition. With stiff competition from more than 150 story submissions from students in grades 7-12 across the state, School One and Goat Hill selected Maya along with 3 other students in RI as the state winners.

Maya's story, Flying By Myself, will be published alongside the other winners of Write Rhode Island in a special anthology. The winners of the Write Rhode Island short story competition will be honored at a special awards ceremony at the Newport Art Museum on April 7, 2019. Winners will also be part of the PVD Fringe on July 27, 2019 as part of the Family Fringe event at the Wilbury Theater in Providence.
