Future government leaders in training!

On Thursday, March 8th, Ms. Misurelli's 3rd-grade class ended their US government unit in a memorable way! The class took a field trip to the Rhode Island State House, where they toured the historical building and even conducted a mock legislative session with Speaker of the House Nicholas Mattiello. In addition to the lively debate, the girls were able to vote on actual bills in progress like: "Should there be mandatory seat belts on all school buses?" The purpose of the trip is to help youth gain knowledge and develop skills that will foster and promote civic engagement in the future.
