Meet Astronaut Mark!

This October, St. Mary Academy - Bay View and Bishop Hendricken students in grades 8 through 1 will have a unique opportunity to have a 10 minute Q&A session with NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei! Astronaut Mark is currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The ISS will streaks overhead RI at 17,500 miles per hour during their talk!

Students are encouraged to submit a question in advance of the event. The question must be unique, scientific, creative and challenging. All questions are due by October 1st and the questions to be asked of Astronaut Mark will be selected by the organization coordinating the event. Each student selected will be in the audience at the Bishop Hendricken theater when the event takes place. The form for questions is now live online by clicking here.

In preparation for this wonderful opportunity, the Science department is coordinating the educational materials, instruction and conversation for our students. Much of the education will take place during homeroom and science classes with the viewing of videos supported by NASA. On the day of the event Bay View will live stream the conversation with Astronaut Mark for all our students in grades 8-12.
