From June 17th through the 22nd, recent graduate Tiffany Brooks '17, had the privilege of participating in the "Distinguished Young Women" scholarship contest, in Mobile, Alabama. This program includes representatives from all 50 states, as well as Washington, DC. The girls must qualify on a local level before proceeding to the finals on the National level. The program is only open to high school Seniors, and offers a top prize of a $30,000 scholarship to the college of the winner's choice.

Tiffany spent two very busy weeks in Mobile. The first portion of the trip was spent bonding with her fellow finalists at "Camp Grace" and volunteering at The Little Tree Preschool, a school for children diagnosed with Autism. The final three days of her trip centered around competition on five components: Scholastic, a review of the student's academic transcript; Self-expression, where each finalist was asked an on-stage question; Interview, which included a panel of 5 judges; Physical Fitness a 6-minute group routine and individual performance; and finally, Talent, where Tiffany sang "I Will Always Love You", by Whitney Houston. While Tiffany did not win the competition, she told Bay View, "I had the time of my life and made some friendships that will last forever."

We are proud of you Tiffany! #YouAreBayView
